Durango Custom Works is proud to announce that the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) is elevating 28 of its members to Fellowship status for outstanding achievement in promoting and advancing the landscape architecture profession. Our very own Kenn Bates is amongst the prestigious individuals to be inducted this coming fall! The investiture ceremony will occur October 23 during the 2016 ASLA Annual Meeting taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Following a design career in the themed entertainment and hospitality market, Kenn relocated from Orlando, Florida and joined our team of skilled craftsmen and designers in Durango, Colorado in the fall of 2013. He provides landscape architectural and other design services including planting design, hardscape design, master planning, and presentation graphics and renderings for clients right here in Durango as well as across the United States.
Kenn Bates received his nomination, for Service, from the ASLA Florida Chapter, which he continues today as a member of the ASLA Colorado Chapter. Throughout his career he has served the Society assiduously. He brought more visibility and expansiveness to the Florida Chapter’s awards program. Kenn's service-oriented efforts galvanized the Society’s membership as stewards of public health, safety and welfare. To him, every venue is an opportunity to advance the profession—from his extensive community service to volunteer work within ASLA at all levels. His government advocacy efforts and ability to expand national recognition of landscape architects and students have proven him a champion for his chosen profession. His leadership, including contributions as chair of the ASLA national Chapter Presidents Council, serves as a fitting example of how selfless dedication can raise public awareness of the value of landscape architecture.
“Throughout my career as a landscape architect, my greatest passion and greatest joy has been creating places that make a difference in the lives of the user and inspires unforgettable memories,” Kenn says.
